Types of German Student Visas:
- π Main German Student Visa (Visum Zur Studienzwecken): For those already accepted into a university course.
- π£οΈ Language Course Visa: For those accepted into a language preparatory course lasting between three months and one year.
- π Student Applicant Visa (Visum Zur Studienbewerbung): For those who haven\’t chosen their course yet or are awaiting confirmation of acceptance.
Requirements for a German Student Visa:
- Proof of acceptance on the course (University admissions pack).
- APS certificate (China, India, and Vietnam applicants only).
- German blocked bank confirmation (Expatrio/Fintiba) or Declaration of commitment letter for long-term stay by a sponsor residing in Germany.
- Proof of finance/funds covering entire tuition fees.
- IELTS/TOEFL scorecard (no older than 2 years).
- Original educational certificates and certified copies.
- German health insurance + travel insurance.
- Extension letter from the institution if studying started from abroad.
- All other documents as mentioned in the Embassy checklist (e.g., photocopies of the valid passport, current biometric photo, etc.).
Note: Minor (under 18) students need a parent or an appointed legal guardian in Germany.
